Call for Papers

SIGMAP is sponsored by INSTICC – Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication

SCOPE

The purpose of SIGMAP 2019, the International Conference on Signal Processing and Multimedia Applications, is to bring together researchers, engineers and practitioners interested on information systems and applications, including theory and practice in various heterogeneous and interrelated fields including image, video and audio data processing, new sources of multimodal data (text, social, health, etc.) and Multimedia Applications related to representation, storage, authentication and communication of multimedia information. Multimedia is a research field that includes computing methods in which different modalities are integrated and combined, with the aim to take advantage from each data source.

Traditionally, the multimedia research community has been able to handle big data, promote and create large scale datasets, as well as to address new challenges by proposing novel methods and applications.
In the last few years, the amount of exchanged multimedia information have experienced an exponential growth (e.g., Social Network Platforms), as well as the availability of signal data coming from smart personal devices (e.g., smart watches, wearable sensors, smart bracelet, etc.) and other kinds of sensors.
This allowed the development of new applications, aimed to take advantage from this huge amount of data. In this context, theoretical and practical methods, based on modern learning techniques (e.g., Deep Learning), able to improve each step of the processing, analysis, communication and presentation in such applications' pipelines are needed.
The signal processing field, when combined with multimedia information encompasses a large number of research topics and emerging applications.

PAPER SUBMISSION

Authors should submit a paper in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling, addressing one or several of the conference areas or topics. Each paper should clearly indicate the nature of its technical/scientific contribution, and the problems, domains or environments to which it is applicable. To facilitate the double-blind paper evaluation method, authors are kindly requested to produce and provide the paper WITHOUT any reference to any of the authors, including the authors’ personal details, the acknowledgments section of the paper and any other reference that may disclose the authors’ identity.

Only original papers should be submitted. Authors are advised to read INSTICC's ethical norms regarding plagiarism and self-plagiarism thoroughly before submitting and must make sure that their submissions do not substantially overlap work which has been published elsewhere or simultaneously submitted to a journal or another conference with proceedings. Papers that contain any form of plagiarism will be rejected without reviews.

Authors can submit their work in the form of a Regular Paper, representing completed and validated research, or as a Position Paper, portraying a short report of work in progress or an arguable opinion about an issue discussing ideas, facts, situations, methods, procedures or results of scientific research focused on one of the conference topic areas. All papers must be submitted through the online submission platform PRIMORIS and should follow the instructions and templates that can be found under Guidelines and Templates. After the paper submission has been successfully completed, authors will receive an automatic confirmation e-mail.

PUBLICATIONS

All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings, under an ISBN reference, on paper and on digital support.
SCITEPRESS is a member of CrossRef (http://www.crossref.org/) and every paper on our digital library is given a DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

All papers presented at the conference venue will be available at the SCITEPRESS Digital Library (consult SCITEPRESS Ethics of Publication)

It is planned to publish a short list of revised and extended versions of presented papers with Springer in a CCIS Series book
The proceedings will be submitted for indexation by DBLP, Web of Science / Conference Proceedings Citation Index, EI, SCOPUS, Microsoft Academic, Semantic Scholar and Google Scholar.

The conference will be held at the Vienna House Diplomat Prague, Prague, Czech Republic.

The Vienna House Diplomat Prague is located in the diplomatic district, close to the historic centre. Where better to meet and enjoy the good life than where diplomacy prevails? The hotel is one of the most popular conference venues and the views over the rooftops alone make a visit worthwhile. From the wellness area the Castle seem within one's grasp.
